Draft 8 of the Value Statements

Values of Purdue University North Central

The activities of Purdue University North Central are based on the following values to best serve its many constituencies through Learning, Discovery and Engagement:

Values of Learning

* To provide all students an education through programs that meet the professional,

cultural and general education needs of this diverse industrial, technological and

agricultural region;

* To provide an education of high quality and integrity in an atmosphere that promotes

life long learning through specific curricula that lead primarily to bachelors and masters degrees sought by our students;

* To focus on timely assessment of all programs and activities and to use the results

of those assessments to improve the programs and activities offered by

this institution;

* To emphasize diversity, which includes concern for racial, cultural, socio economic,

sexual orientation, ability, gender and age differences, in all areas, plans and

activities that involve the constituents of this institution;

Values of Discovery

* To encourage research and inquiry in all aspects of the university life, by students, faculty, staff and partnerships with constituents;

* To fulfill the responsibility of disseminating new knowledge, products, processes and

applications gained through university inquiry;

Values of Engagement

* To provide clear and frequent communication of our activities, plans and visions for

the future with all constituents both on and off campus;

* To increase the growth and academic success opportunities for our constituents by

establishing multiple partnerships that will utilize the abundant resources of our
geographical area.

* To stress international awareness as students and local citizens look to this

campus for leadership and education in this area so vital to the future.

* To maintain and practice good stewardship of all campus resources entrusted to this institution, while being fully aware of the responsibilities we carry for the

environment in which we live and the energy we require to fulfill our mission.
